School well-being workshops

Primary and Secondary schools can book half or whole days for wellbeing workshops. Most schools book the whole day and each class gets a 30-40 minute session depending on the time limits of the school timetable. Some schools book a day as part of their Well-being Week and some schools book a block of workshops over a term or spread the days throughout the school year. This usually depends on the needs and available funding for each school.

 If a school has a hall I set up the yoga mats with the blankets but if no hall space is available I go to each classroom. When I am based in the hall the children have more space to move and they lie down with their blanket for relaxation at the end. When I am in the classroom children do it at their table then stand up behind their chair for the movements.

Within each differentiated lesson based on the age group the child will experience

  • Mindful breathing techniques 

  • Brain Gym & energy movements

  • Simple yoga

  • Listening to a story book or poem based on Emotional literacy, Well-being themes or seasonal topics.

  • Story massage in pairs 

  • Meditation/Relaxation

 

 

Themes of workshops or blocks of lessons can include

  • Feeling worried & finding our brave feelings

  • It is ok to feel angry

  • Gratitude & thankful feelings

  • Kindness or Kindness Week

  • Friendship or Friendship Week

  • Autism Awareness day or week 

  • Neurodiversity week, we are all unique

  • Its ok to make mistakes/growth mindset

  • The power of yet 

  • Change as school year begins or ends

  • World Happiness Day 

  • Seasonal topics like Christmas & Spring

Online Primary School Well-being Workshops

The class will experience the following activities in the workshops...

  • Mindful breathing techniques & exercises for regulation

  • Right/left brain & energy movements

  • Simple yoga with listening games

  • Understanding how their brain and body works together to support physical & mental health.

  • Listening to an appropriate picture book on different feelings or specific topics

  • Story massage in pairs or short practical activity

  • Relaxation/meditation related to theme of lesson a with sound bowls & chimes
